marissa erickson (she/they)

is an interdisciplinary artist from the southwest United States whose work observes stories of relationship; one hand to another, our beliefs to the beliefs before them, the relationship the cracks of a palm have to a seed, mold to a ripe fruit, a body to a memory, .

marissa studied anthropology (B.A.), diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (B.A.), and studio art (minor) at Metropolitan State University of Denver. marissa has worked as a ceramics studio and metals studio assistant, research assistant, visual ethnographer, and graphic designer. her ethnographic research has taken her as far as Japan where she researched post-pandemic social connection and agrotourism in three different regions in Japan. her individual research concerns disability justice in higher education institutions through universal design.

marissa’s work weaves through mediums of metals, textile, photo, found objects, video, performance, bio matter, collage, and ceramic.
